The Journey of Choices

“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”- John 14:6

First, I am blessed to be in the United States of America. I know what’s going on currently doesn’t seem like it, but we are more blessed than others in any country. With being in the USA, we have democracy and freedom. We have the rights to do things more than many other countries and most importantly we have freedom of religion. It’s great to have the freedom for we can have choices to make in our lives. The older I am getting, I am now seeing the ultimate choice I need to make every day. Do I want to be a bridge or do I want to be a wall?

Silly question to choose right? A bridge is a structure carrying a road across an obstacle. A wall is a continuous brick or stone structure that divides an area. Do you see the difference? One connects. One divides. Now there are pros and cons on bridges and walls, but I want to try my best to let you see what i am seeing right now. If we are to love one another or love our neighbor as ourselves, then we need to be the bridge through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (John 13:34 & Matthew 22:39) If we want to continue to have jealousy, hatred, discrimination, racism, and other sins in our lives, then we are the wall.

With Jesus being the foundation of our bridge, we can transform our lives with His ways coming into our hearts and transfer the old ways out. (Romans 12:2) With a wall that was built on selfishness, we block God’s blessings for us. We block connection, understanding, knowledge, love, and other fruits of the Spirit. (Galatians 5:22-23) You can see in this world who built bridges or who built walls. I encourage you today to break any walls that you have built between you and God and start building a bridge with Jesus as your foundation.
