The Journey of Victory

“The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.”- Matthew‬ ‭28:5-6‬

I love to win at anything I do. I guess you can say I am competitive but I am learning how to be respectful while being competitive. We all can agree that we love to win more than we love to lose. We love the fact that victory is better than defeat. Since it is Easter, knowing what happened to Jesus, sometimes victory can look totally different than we imagined.

Victory can like multiple things in life. Victory may look like a good job. Victory may look like a great family. Victory may look like graduating from school. We can go on and describe many ways we claim victory but let’s think back to Good Friday. How can victory, or anything good, happen through our Savior being crucified on an old rugged cross? We have to remember, on this journey of life, that His ways, thoughts, and plans are always better than ours(Isaiah 55:8). He had to go to cross for not only His victory but our victory as well. Imagine the disciples of Jesus during that time. They didn’t see victory. They didn’t believe in the victory. They saw defeat. They felt ashamed and broken. They felt so low that they scattered away. For 3 days, it seemed the world has been defeated, but it wasn’t. It was still a victory.

Early Sunday morning, victory looks like a stone rolled away. Victory looks like an empty tomb. Victory looks like death doesn’t get the last word on our lives. If there’s one thing that victory can look for the rest of our lives, victory looks like Jesus. Jesus died and came back so you can live a victorious and blessed life. Have victory knowing that today and every day you live. Victory belongs to Jesus. Victory belongs to Him.
