“Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.”- Ecclesiastes ‭4:9-10

I love my friends. I am so thankful and blessed with each person in my life that I can call a friend. When I think of friendships, I think how Jesus was as a friend. Jesus is the perfect example of a friend. He was a friend to all and showed how to be a loving and compassionate friend. If we are followers of Christ, we should lead by His example(1 John 3:2/Philippians 2:5). We should be understanding, helpful, and respectful towards everyone, especially who wants to be friends with you. We are to be blessings not burdens to each other.

With a friendship, there has to be a certain love that connects the friendship together. Love is the ultimate glue to our friendships with others. We can’t have a true friendship without love. Love is a driving force that only can be explained by God. God is love(1 John 4:8). We can’t love without knowing God. He showed love by bringing His only Son for our sins(1 John 4:9-10). That’s real love. Jesus showed love not only doing that but seeking others, especially the ones we normally reject by the outside appearance. Thank God He looks inside and sees the potential in each of us. We should do the same with our friendships.

We can’t forget to give thanks to God for friendships. Friendships are a blessing to us for we can’t do life alone. God made certain people be in your life for certain reasons(Ecclesiastes 3:1). Remember, God doesn’t make mistakes. We should always pray for God to bless the person in our friendship. We should pray that God will protect the friendship we have created for His glory. Finally, we need to always show the person that you are grateful for him or her. Friendships are a gift from God to bless us, mold us, and shape us to what He has planned for us.
