The Journey of Shouting

“So he began shouting, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” “Be quiet!” the people in front yelled at him. But he only shouted louder, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”- Luke 18:38-39
Our voices are unique in the way we speak. Since I live in Alabama, I might have a little country to my voice than someone who might live in New York, Boston, or Los Angeles. With our voice comes volume. We can either be quiet as we are in a library or we can be loud like we are in an arena watching our favorite team play. With a loud voice, we sometimes shout out things. When we shout, it can come in different tones or moods. “Hey, I made a 100!”, “I love you!!!”, or “We won!!!” are examples of happy shouts. What about the ones we don’t like to talk about? The not-so-happy shouts? “I need help!!!”, “Where are you!?”, or “Come here now!!!”. When we are upset with uncontrolled emotions we shout for desperation. There is one character in the bible that was desperate that he couldn't help but to shout.
The blind beggar of Jericho in Luke 18 was on the side of the road. He was probably at the lowest of his life and when you’re at your lowest, you’re probably desperate. He heard something one day. A crowd of people was coming his way. He started to wonder what was all the shouting about. Some people told him Jesus was coming. It amazes me that when he heard the name Jesus, he started shouting. He didn’t golf clap or quietly said "nice", he shouted out of desperation. He shouted out for mercy. He shouted out or a miracle. He shouted out for he knows that Jesus can do the impossible.
Jesus heard him and made him see. What the beggar does after he has his vision? He shouted. He shouted by praising God. The beautiful thing about Jesus is He can make your shouting of pain to shouting of praise. He can make your shouting of trials to shouting of testimonies. Let your voice be heard by shouting to Jesus. He will answer you and He will bless you.
