“But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.”- 1 John‬ ‭1:7 What are you living for? Is it living to make money? Is it living to make people happy? Is it living to get things accomplished on your bucket list? We are all living for something in our lives. In this journey of life, we should be living in the light of Jesus. For if we’re not living in the light, our journey will be dark with no guidance to make it through life. When we do decide to live in the light, there are some requirements. I wanted to focus on three requirements that have made an impact in my life and hopefully it will with yours. 1. Living in the light requires living in His commandments. (1 John 2:1-4) We must live according to God’s commandments on this earth. Now is it possible to live His commandments perfectly everyday? No. We are not perfect. Since we are imperfect that means we need the perfect one to forgive our sins which is Jesus Christ. He is the truly righteous and went to the cross for all the sins in our lives; past, present, and future. We must live in His truth and His commandments. 2. Living in the light requires obedience. (1 John 2:5-8) If we are going to be one with God, and have his light shine over us, we must become obedient. Obedience is challenging for us all because we want to be selfish and do it our way. If we become disobedient, we grow our pride which grows our sin which grows darkness. But thankfully, with a choice, we can be obedient to God and His word to live the life Jesus did. He lived a blameless and righteous life for 33 years. He lived that way through the obedience to His father. The more we become obedient, the more we become like Christ. The more we become like Christ, the more the light will shine more through our lives. 3. Living in the light requires purity. (1 John 2:9-11) We have to be pure in living in the light. Our words and actions have to be in sync with one another to live in the light. For if we are being hypocritical on mixing our words and actions, we are clearly in the darkness. That’s what the enemy wants. He wants us to be full of confusion but we serve a God of peace and clarity. When we have the clarity of living in the light, we will not stumble our brothers and sisters but help them grow closer to our Father. We are here on this earth to spark the fire of Jesus inside every heart. We spark the fire to shine the light. We need to let our light shine through us by our words and actions. The more we shine, the more proud Jesus is. Living in the light of Christ will bless you in your journey. With the light of Christ, you see everything with clarity. With the light of Christ, the darkness of sin fades away. With the light of Christ, you are able to shine so others can see the wonderful things God has done in your life. I will conclude by saying it is a choice to live in the light. You have a choice every day what you want to do. I pray you choose to live in the light and let God shine through you.
