“Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. By faith, we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.”- Hebrews 11:1, 3
Having faith in God is not just thinking you know what you believe. It’s being sure of who God is. He is the creator of the universe which includes you. Faith knows that God is all-knowing, all-loving, all-powerful, and over all things. As we look in Hebrews 11, it is known as the “Hall of Faith”. It gives us examples of people throughout the bible that have put their faith in the Lord through different situations. Faith shows the realization of what we hope for things we cannot see. With faith, our weakness becomes our strength. With faith, we can be strong in our battles. With faith, we believe in God’s promises for us. It’s impossible to please God without faith in Him. Once we believe in Him, and have faith in Him, the blessings of God will come sooner than later.
We can also look at Romans 4 where it talked about Abraham aka the father of faith. Abraham believed God and God counted him righteous because of his faith (Romans 4:3) God’s promise to give Abraham many nations because of the right relationship with God by faith. God promised Abraham that his descendants would be made into many nations. God did not grant him this promise because of the things he did, but rather because of his faith in God. We are counted righteous because of our faith in God when we forgive others. The blessing of our faith in God is that we must be fully convinced that God is able to do whatever He promises for us.
Sometimes, once we have faith in our God, it can be tested. In James 1:2-4, it talked about how our faith can be tested, but once it is tested, that is the opportunity for our endurance to grow. When our faith is tested, we must consider it pure joy. When asked for something, our faith should be with God and God alone! Faith is believing God and resting in His promises until fulfillment comes. Let faith convince you of reality even before you see what has been promised in the natural. There will be times when your faith will be tested. Everyone’s faith gets tested. Maybe someone asks a question about what you believe, and honestly, you don’t know how to answer them. While you talk to them, pray that God would give you the words to say. Pray that God would help you recall scripture (which is why it’s important to read scripture in the first place) to your mind and give you the right words at that moment.
I love this quote from Kenneth Hagin, "Often you create your own negative situations with wrong thinking, wrong believing, and wrong speaking.” So start believing according to God's Word. Then begin making positive confessions of faith and victory over your life. If you don't like what you have in life, then begin to change the way you are thinking, believing, and speaking. Instead of speaking according to natural circumstances out of your head, learn to speak God's Word from your spirit. Begin to confess God's promises of life and health and victory into your situation. Then you can begin to enjoy God's abundant life as you have what you say!"
I want to conclude with a verse, “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.”- Hebrews 11:6
